Is there supposed to be any kind of check valve in this vent? Replacing the flexible rear brake line and this thing does not have an opening all the way through. I can drill through and MAKE one, but don’t want to screw up something unnecessarily. TIA

No check valve, just an open vent tube. If yours is clogged, something that's not supposed to be in there is clogging it up.

Got it! No, no problems with unscrewing it. Just confused. For some reason I had in my mind that it had a check valve in it. Probably just has dried up rear end lube blocking it.
Thanks for feedback and relieving my anxiety.

No check valve, just a tiny Ø.03" thru hole or thereabouts.

^^^^ What he said.
Mine was full of crud. but the the thru hole was less than a 1/16" diameter.
The Tom's breather tubes, linked by Ben, appear to have much larger holes in them.

I’m replacing all the brake lines and thought since I have new hose and new lines I may as well clean the axle housing and paint it. Figured it best to screw the vent back in to protect threads and prevent more detritus in the housing.
Y’all, I appreciate the feedback and advice.
