I sold a top last month for $75 that was a 4 out 10. I had it on CL for $100 with no response. I've also seen a restored hard top with $3k in it. It had $300 in just seam sealer. If you are going for a high end restoration then getting a hard top up to quality standards takes a lot of time and money. I'm not saying his price right but if it was on a "show Bronco" as he claims and is as good as he says then he's not far off. It would have to be 9.5/10 since it has that dent.

Like most things Bronco related, you never get the money out that you put in. I agree that body work and a nice paint job cost a pretty penny and hard tops get beat up and are difficult to work on. The price for restoration adds up quick. I don't think he's being realistic in trying to get that out of it, but it's better to start high and come down than to try and go in the opposite direction.

Considering there have been posts over the years for run of the mill hard tops needing work for $800 - $1,000 this ad isn't completely unrealistic, but he'll be waiting a long time for the right buyer to come along.

I think I sold the hard top trim from my 72 for $50 as long as he took the top with it. Gave away the 66 top.

top

yes i agree top is little high but if anybody has restored a top to this condition will agree that it adds up. i sell a good many tops in the 400 .00 to 600.00 range and the ones to keep rain off your head for 100 to 200.But a good top with no dents and rust in drip rails will bring 800 to 900. By the time you have it painted, replace seam sealer, replace window seals. add good polished chrome trim, tinted windows, new latch and liftgate shocks, headliner, you already over the 2000.00 range. I know ,I have done some.

All that pretty paint will only be worth that kind of money to someone with a Bronco that color or would look good with that color.
Good luck on that.

Looks like a nice top but too expensive! I would be better if it were in a primer ready for final color but it does look like a nice top!

I think I pretty much gave away my hard top for $125 then. Needed paint but it had the chrome strip around the upper drip rail edge. Chrome around the side glass (that was all good along with the seals) along with a back window in excellent shape, glass, latch mechanism, lift arms....

Just a bit of rust on the part that attached to the w/s frame. I hate those hard learned lessons, that come along in life every so often.

I agree things cost money but that guy is a dreamer.

It doesn't look like the windows and rubbers were removed prior to painting to my eyes when you increase the size of the photos, but I could be wrong. So if you want to paint it properly and more than likely a color change it is way overpriced.

No liftgate shocks on that. Bottom lip on liftgate looks pretty ordinary and so does the line where it changes from blue to white.

I go to a lot of shows and just because someone states "it's a show car" doesn't mean it is in fantastic condition. %)

YMMV! But if there is one thing I'm certain of, there is no shortage of craigslist idiots ;D

Have a great day, I'm enjoying the sunshine in jersey and installing my 4x4x2!
