What would be the most probable cause for corrosion on the positive terminal of the battery?

the inherent nature of how a battery functions causes corrosion. bout all you can do is keep cleaning it or do like mentioned above and get some of the corrosion inhibitor. it works quite well. also believe it or not coca cola works pretty well to clean up the corrosion too.

I've had several batteries which leaked acid or fumes from around the post if the build up of corrosion is rapid this could be your problem.
One of the guys in our club who owns a shop says to use Karo Syrup to protect posts and cables so i've been doing it for a couple of months now seems to be working but won't help if battery is leaking.

Vasoline works too. What ever you use, clean everything real good then clamp it down then apply. I have seen people put stuff on the post and then put the cables on and wonder why it does not start.

Living in the midwest where they use roadsalt wreaks havoc on batteries. I've got a battery I put in a 99 Subaru in March, it's already corroding.
