I'm looking at a 23 gal tank for my Bronco and I'm leaning towards BC's. I like how its not held in by a strap. The question I have is, how does the mounting hardware attach to the frame? I'd hate to paint my frame and then realize that I need to weld something else to it.

The BC Bronco tank rocks!! Think of it as rails on with side of the tank. Its definitely superior to straps. If strength is what you are worried about, you can rest easy. I have it and recommend it any day! You can either weld the units or bolt them to the frame. I welded them in.

The unistruts bolt in. Nothing to weld, although you could if you wanted too.

As for strength, I've hung my rig up on the tank several times with no issues.

There are other tanks without straps. Aero for one. No welding needed either. Before you buy, compare the dimensions. The BC tank is narrower to make room for those brackets so they make them taller to hold the same 23 gallons as the other brands. You end up losing some ground clearance unless you have a pretty big body lift. On the positive side, they are adjustable for any body lift you have.

Like you I only have a 1" bl. So I guess the BC tank would hang pretty low? Does anybody make tanks with same bracket system but with slightly lower capacity (20 gallon maybe) to increase clearance?

Aero tank is only $312. That's a big savings! Thanks for the hook up!

Just so you know, my tank is adjustable and is a little narrower but the Aero tank has rolled corners and fixed mounts so my tank does not hang down any more than the other. But if you are concerned Aero will make the tank any size you want it. PS, the weld thing is a cover my ass thing. In 10+ yesr of selling the tank with the unistrut and 35 yrs of being involved with unistrut I have never seen a unistrut not come loose of installed properly, I have never seen one installed wrong either but cound see how it could be done wrong so a weld covers that.

I have one of BC's (Chuck up above ^^^) older tanks , they work well.
I use uni-strut ALOT in my profession , good stuff. I haven't welded mine yet ... it's been about 7 years now.

I installed a set of Aero tanks on our car over 30 years ago. They are still working great. BTW, Aero will even make you a third tank for the passenger side. They sent me one by mistake. It was pretty neat. It had the fill neck welded on where it could be filled through the wheel well.

To the OP, here's a good picture showing how the mounting tabs, which are connected to the unistrut by bolts and, ideally, tack welds, are then bolted to the frame.

I don't know if it was an Aero, but I actually saw this on a Bronco I spotted a couple weeks ago here in San Diego - is this anyone's here? Sweet Bronco, really built for wheeling.

Talked to WH today about the shit in the tank and the pump
They said that they were not aware of the sand until fairly recently and now clean or recommend the buyer clean if it is not bought with a in tank pump installed. They also said the would send me out a new pump and strainer at no cost. I explained how I had already put in a new pump and they said they would give me a store credit. Thanks! WH has not once let me down and has got to be my preferred EB source!

Frankly I would have checked the tank before I installed it myself? I took the pump out of my BCB tank and wiped out my tank before I installed it. I call it simple maintenance. It's kind of like washing a pot you just bought before you cook dinner in it...%)

Fully agree but,I doubt that you would take a part a new crate engine to make sure it was assembled right before you tried to fire it!

LOL , I agree , but this is the wrong crowd for that example!
There are more than a few who have done exactly that AND found stuff that was not entirely correct , considering what they paid for a crate motor that was SUPPOSED to be done properly.
