I am in the middle of putting my engine back together and was wondering what some of yours look like. I'd like to see pictures especially if they are painted, chromed etc. so I can get ideas

Thanks

Well mine is pretty plain but here it is: 2000 explorer 5.0 painted the darker ford blue color, aluminum intake/ water pump, etc, gloss black stock valve covers. There are more pics in my build thread if you're interested.

Mine is a Ford Blue... I think it was rattle can VHT brand. I will have to look up the number. You just don't see much of the engine color when it's installed except from the bottom.

I like a Black or Ford Dark Blue Block.

Heads, Timing Cover and Intake are Aluminum color.

Water Pump, Accessory Brackets and Fan are Black.

I also make sure that NO hardware/Bolts are painted. This makes a big difference.

Here's what I'm talking about:

My PO painted the block Chevy Red. He said he liked the look with the black paint in the engine compartment.

I think it looks cool also.

He also did extensive chroming. Even chromed the steering shaft, steering box, clutch linkage, throttle linkage, on and on. It looks great, but what a pain the @ss to keep clean. I got caught in a rain storm, which I try to avoid, but once I got home, I had hours of cleaning and polishing ahead of me.

But, it looks cool. Not sure if I have engine pics in my garage.

Good luck.

I agree that you can't tell what color you painted the block by time you get everything bolted on. I would put more consideration into the color of your valve covers and intakes. You can't even tell that my block is painted black in this picture.

I really love the good old Ford blue but have noticed with all the super efficient new mods, like explorer serpentine setup and fuel injection it might as well be rust. just saying.
