Hey, in an earlier post, people were considering options for speaker mounts in the rear of the EB. Jeepster suggested black diamond plate for the rear panels, anyone know where to get some, is it coated? Painted? Can it be purchased by the panel black? or do you send it out to be colored after cutting? Anybody ever use it? Pics? TIA, bill

Not sure what the deal on that is BUT if you do need to spray it or something along those lines. DON"T GO BUY NEW STUFF!!!! go to a junkyard and they are bound to have afew diamong plate tool boxes in the beds of trucks, and buy one of those....if there is a big enough flat section to use.

I can't help with your question, but I've often thought about taking some diamond plate, carefully taping the tops of each "diamond" and spraying it black. After pulling the tape you'd have shiny stars on the black.

Also seems like wwaaayyyyy to much work ;) :D

Another idea was to spray the whole sheet, then lightly sand (emory or super-fine) the tops to achieve similar result.

just go to a local metal scrap yard to get the DP. Then just paint it black or you could give one of us a bunch of $$ to paint it.

To have "black" diamond plate it should be anodized. but you would want to be finsished bending and shaping before having it anodized for best results. If someone was calling a material "black diamond plate," they probably meant real diamond plate which is steel, not the more common aluminum which is basicly for cosmetics.

I have black diamond plate for the interior quarter panels and my rocker covers. I had it powder-coated in gloss black. Photos available upon request. 8)

Here are some photos of my diamond plate interior. All of this was powder-coated....a process I truly appreciate.

I myself have rhino-lined interior and always thought I would do a roll on application of herculiner on the quarters in the back. Look real good and keep the rattles down from metal on metal contact and from the music thumping! ;D

nice interior LSU pete!!! ;D ;D I had no idea that body shops could do power coatings, that's awsome in it self!
I also like the JBL speaker install with the diamond plate. I think I will herculine my bed, then do the black diamond plate ( ;Dfuture project), that looks awsome pete!!!
thanks
