I am assembling a new body and have a problem.

The front fender is sitting to high and is not touching the firewall.
All lines match and everything else looks good. Any Ideas on what could be wrong? Help appreciated..

Looks like allot of new metal? I had so many problems with any metal matching up, especially at the door pillar. I agree with the above statement though it seams high, but why? Can you take a picture with the fender off from the side?

You will need to mount the hood to the Cowl and set its height to the front grill before you start moving anything.

Thank you Guy's for your interest.

This is a new tub and the first problem I have. Everything lines up almost great. Here are some more pics of the front.
They might give you some more insight.

I think the pillar might be to high but the door height is right
The grill support is not installed but I got same lines with it.

The pics make it look like the fenders are to low. Maybe need to raise core support up a bit. It also looks like the inner fender shelf is too low and not touching the fender. Hard to tell by those pics but it sure looks like it needs some fudging also. The door posts appear to be at the right height as the door to quarter looks like it lines up decent. Ken

works best for me to get the door lined up to the quarters. then get the fenders lined up to the doors. add the grill and line it up then install hood and line it up.. leave all fender and grill bolts just snug. install the hood and get all the gaps right then tighten all bolts..CAUTION!!!! this process takes several attempts to get it all lined up and lots of loosen tighten sessions..LOL

Also, I wouldnt worry too much about the fender meeting up exactly to the hinge post as far as how the internal gaps are..these were not close gaps from Ford.

good luck

I had to cut some of the spotwelds loose that hold the mounting flange to the fender. my fender was low about mid way between the cowl and grille. made the hood look high. cut welds loose, adjusted and rewelded flange back on. you may have other issues. hard to tell with pictures there are so many things that affect it. But like mentioned already. I fit doors to quarters and rockers, then fit front fenders to that.

I had to do like sucker punched did on both of mine. One was too high and the other one I had to rebend the 90 that goes to cowl and redrill the hole and trim excess off.
Just take your time and keep adjusting stuff. I know it's hard when you get almost everything just right except that last piece but the reality is that sometimes you have to start at the far end and make little adjustments all the way to make the final puzzle piece fit
Good luck and good job so far

another thing i did was bolt the inner fender apron to the fender and did not tack weld it to the cowl/kick panel until the fender alignment was good.

I don't like adding shims under the fender to fix this. I was so sure everything was right that I spot welded the pillar. Nothing that cant be drilled up. If you notice on the 4'th photo the Leveler on the door I marked a white line on it, on the problem side. Next photo shows it on the Passenger side and you can see the door on that site sits lower.

I will report how things go.

Thank you all
