Body mount bushings problem

I removed all the bushings and am installing new ones. The floor was removed and I was replacing the bushings prior to the new floor. I was told this would be the proper order. Now look at the frontmost channel, it looks totally off. Any ideas what went wrong or how to fix it?

It’s the same on both sides.

It’s a poor picture but essentially the channel slopes up towards the middle of the truck on both sides and is not flat on top of the new bushings.

The channel on the drivers side of my rig collapsed around the mount and I found it cracked once I removed the floor pan. There is a lot of weight on the outside of that channel supporting the dash, cowl, windshield, kick panel, rocker, and A-Pillar. You need some support there. I used a 4x4 placed vertically between the body mount and the cowl (dash was removed) to support it all while I replaced the kick panels. I then jacked the body at the bottom of the A-pillar up from the shop floor to support the area while I replaced the floor pans.

These two pics show note only the cracked channel but also the cracked reinforcement that Ford used.

did cross member collapse around the bushing?

No. Everything looks really flush, it's just that to the right of the bushing on driver (and left of the bushing on passenger) it starts angling slightly up and becomes unlevel.

I'll check top and bottom when I get home, but I didn't see anything cracked lsat night. I'm thinking I bent it when I jacked it to insert the mounts. This is my first restoration...ugh.

Looks like you need to jack up the rocker panel until that support becomes level. Prolly some sag happened during the tear out of the rusty floor
