Hi folks - I just bought some new replacement outer rockers and a quarter panel and am planning to use automotive panel adhesive (since I don't know how to weld and don't want to drop both gas tanks).

The quarter panel has surface rust (see attached). what should I do to prepare the panel (and the rockers) before gluing them onto the body? Any tricks in gluing the panels? Should I spray them with anything or acid wash them? what about the upper quarter panel and inner rockers where they will attach?

Appreciate any advice.

Are you replacing the quarter panel on the passengers side and are you using a stock swing away tire carrier. Tire carrier places allot of load on that corner of the Bronco body. Something to think about if your planning on gluing that panel in.

I have read on this site that people have used the 3M body panel adhesive and have had good results. My question is one of what to do to prepare the metal panels and how to clean and remove surface rust. steel wool?

I'm replacing everything front to back and I'm trying to find a good blueprint to go off

Hey Rich this is Ryan, you should create a new thread and label it "my build thread and give it a name" you'll get more people to answer your questions on your specific build. Your kind of high jacking this thread which is about panel bond

Panel bond is strong stuff only if it is used properly...so here are my tips. No rust this is an absolute must! You need clean bare metal so what ever technique you've found to get good clean metal go that route! second make sure youre parts fit well and your able to clamp or squeeze your flanges together tight. You can use sheet metal screws to hold things in place if you can not fit a clamp on the area. Once it cures you can remove the screw and fill the hole with panel bond. Ive used it and its great stuff, if you cant weld you'll def spend more time putting things together w/ it than welding but overall its just as strong .....good luck and post pictures!
