Body work, doors don't align.

OK guys help me out here. I have a 77. I have redone almost all of the mechanics, brakes, engine, steering, transmission, suspension. I have over $8000 in it right now. The last thing left to do is the body work. It is loaded with rust. I have a hard time keeping the doors aligned because the door posts are rotted. Any suggestions on where to start. I did redo the floor and painted it with rhino liner. looks and works good. I just don't want to spend another $8000 on the body. I can do some of the body work but not all. Any suggestions?

WHat are your plans for it...is it a trail rig or a driver? If it is a trail rig, I'd put some inserts on and screw the doors. If its a driver and you need the doors, there is a lot of shimming that can be done and you can repair or get new hinges to help the doors align but if the posts are rotten enought to not hold the door right then your gonna need to do some body work including replacing the posts. Post up some pics so we can see the extent of rust and decay.

It's a sin but you could take treated 2x4's but them behind the door posts to square them then align the doors. I've seen it done on a couple of broncos but it is not the right way yo do it and it will earn you a place in the previous Owners hall of shame as well as make it rust faster.

Hey were you one of my PO's;D j/k you can also weld in a piece of angle on the back side, know matter what you will have rust and it will get worse someday. And may have to replace to whole post sooner or later.

I use it as an everyday driver. The thing drives like a dream. I did replace one of the posts but because of the rust behind and around it it is still a little weak. I will try and post some pics and maybe someone can give me some ideas as to my next move.

All 4 posts/strickers were replaced on the 70 I just got, but one of the doors is pretty far out of alignment. It almost seems like the door post was installed @ the wrong angle.
