Brake Pedal Travel after upgrade

I just swapped a WH power brake booster no modify for my manual MC and the travel has increased significanlty. It went from 1.5 to 3 inches. The brakes work great I just don't like the travel.

Is this the case for everyone? Is it normal?

I have a stock 74, stock tires and suspension with front discs, rear drum.

Thanks

Did you check the pushrod adjustment on the Booster? I believe the manual brake MC has a different depth pushrod hole than the power brake MC. also some of the other linkage has adjustments as well. Brake pedal travel should not change much if any after installing powe brakes.

Might also do a little research to determine the bore size of the MC you're using vs the one you replaced. A smaller bore size will make for an easier pedal but will increase pedal travel.

Manual brakes always should be pretty hard from the start. My 2001 F350 travels about that far too as does my wife,s VW Beetle. Sounds like you are just fine especially since they "work just fine".
