Buying Parts

Hi everyone. I have not posted on here in a long time. Life is busy. Anyways I have a 69 sport and I have been saving up to have it restored one day. Not must rust on this one. I know it will cost more to restore this than to buy one already restored but this is a family truck. Is it better to buy parts along the way to curb the cost of restoring or just have the restorers do it? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've been doing it along the way and shipping costs will eat you alive. The alternative is to buy a bunch of parts at once, but then I've run into the problem of changing my mind on some of them and those costs add up too. Then again, BCBronco is fairly close to you so maybe a few road trips can save you shipping costs.

What I miss, over the last...10 years :(%):-[ of building this is actually not being able to drive it. So think about all this before you make your decision.

Will the restorer(s) even be willing to use your parts if you already have them??
Some may, some may not....

If so, you probably should have started buying/hoarding them when you joined the site - 2016 - as costs have skyrocketed since then!! Could have saved some significant $$$ over time.

Hindsight is 20-20 though, isn't it???

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but prices are likely to keep climbing for a while(?) at least??

Although....

if you had a good dependable restorer, might be fastest to do it all at once

Thanks for the info. Yes I agree shipping cost can be $$$$ and I better make sure the restorer will use the parts before I buy more parts some may not. I guess it would be better to just have the restorer do it because I don't have the space to store all the parts. But I do like shopping for parts! LOL Thanks everyone.
