C4 bellhousing compatibility

I have a '69 Bronco with that currently has a 200ci 6-cylinder engine with a broken 3 speed manual trans. Eventually the plan is to replace the 6-cyl with a mustang 5.0 and the 3 speed with a C4 automatic.
I have found a donor C4 from a '75 Bronco, but would like to know if I can mate-up the C4 bell housing to my 6cyl. so that I can at least drive the Bronco around until I can aquire a good 5.0 motor. Or is the 200ci /C4 combo impossible or does it require expensive adapters?
Ideally, I'd like to swap out the tranny and drive around with the 6-cyl untill I have the $$$ and a worthy 5.0 motor available.
I could also attempt a rebuild on the 3-speed to get moving again, but I've never opened a tranny case and don't have any pullers/presses available for a rebuild- or is the 3-speed rebuild really easy?

I grabed my Ford conversions book from http://advanceadapters.com and it says that there was two different bell housings made for the C4 trans for Broncos. But as far as I know the bellhousing and trans are one piece and so it would not fit both the six and eight.

Good luck

while it can be done I think you would be better off waiting to swap in the V-8 if you want to drive it find a used 3sp some people give them away you may only have to pay shipping save the money you would have spent on adapting the C-4 to the 6 cly and get that V-8

Thanks for all the help. I'll try to get a hold of a "free" 3-speed (from RogerCB- thanks for the offer) in the meantime, but I'll same my time and effort for my 5.0/C4 swap. Again, I appreciate the assistance. Bronco Forum Rocks!
