Does anyone have a pic of a C4 kickdown rod to where it connects to an Edelbrock linkage? I have a new to me auto set up and it seems like I’m missing something.

So I just finished this same project yesterday. I ended up going a bit of a different route but I figured I would throw in my .02 cents for future searches. (My apologies for the hijack.) I added the Edelbrock Power Package #2027 to my 302. I was having trouble hooking up the throttle and kick down linkage. I bought the #1483 Ford adapter for the throttle and kick down. I didn't like the angle of the throttle rod though and where they had the kick down mount was interfering with the throttle.
I ended up getting the Lokar cable kick down, #KD-20c4ht and the SRK-4000 bracket. I ditched the Edelbrock #1483 bracket and the throttle rod hook up was now inline with the stock location. The kick down install was pretty straight forward however the Lokar bracket calls to be mounted on one of the rear carb studs. This probably would have worked fine but I ended up using some threaded rod and made my own mounting point using a spot on the intake that ultimately was more of a straight line for kick down operation.
I have yet to run it but everything seems to cycle through very smoothly and I don't see any reason why it won't work.
Thanks for letting me hi Jack.

I never got my OEM C4 kickdown rod to work with my Edlebrock and the rod came on the truck but with the new carb for some reason the rod always hit the firewall and wouldn't move right. I tried a Lokar but it never seemed to work. Eventually said the hell with it and took it all off and with my Winters floor shifter I just push it back to 2nd when I need/want to. Much happier. I still have no idea why the OEM rod wouldn't work with the new carb but same 302/C4/column shift. ?:?

Is it just me not seeing some pictures correctly or are some of those pushing and others pulling the kickdown rod?

The Lokar setup is actually a “pull” at the carb but the cable is routed to pull the kick down the proper direction.

The obvious problem is the AFB throttle arm arrangement. It's poorly designed and often requires bending the throttle linkage and kick down rod. The Edelbrock throttle lever adapter is bandaid fix that moves the throttle linkage further out over the valve cover. I would buy an extra throttle linkage rod to bend to work on AFBs and keep the original rod to use with carburetors friendlier to Ford linkages. Carter made some AFBs with a Ford linkage including the kick down lever for the rod that's much closer to the carb. I found one in a carb pile at a junk yard. Edelbrock would have to offer a different AFB for Fords to do this. They don't care that much. The kick down rod is pushed against a spring in the C4 valve body and pulled by a coil return spring on the carb.
