Any idea what it would run (around about) in labor cost to get a C4 rebuilt? I already have the master rebuild kit but after some reading, I don't trust myself to rebuild it myself. I have the tranny out already so no labor there.

I had one done a few years ago and it was $750. I took it out and asked my mechanic to send it out for me. He told me it took him a few shops before one agreed to do the job. No one wanted to do a bench rebuild, they all wanted to do the remove and reinstall too (xtra labor). I guess that's why the higher $$. I figured it would be somewhere between $450-$600 range.

Shouldn't be too bad. I use a tech at the local Ford house, I think he charges $150 plus parts. So a basic rebuild is usually around $300 plus the converter.

Just had one built - parts and labor for $375. Very reputable race car, dead car, and off road transmission specialist. He won't take it out and install - only builds what you bring him.

A buddy of mine bought a video on how to rebuild it yourself, he said it was excellent and wasn't that complicated to do. Search it out!

If the video was the one from Badshoe I highly recommend it, I just finished mine up last month and it was pretty straight forward. With the video and all the hints and pointers from the experts on this forum I'am pretty confident it will rock. I had about 400$ into parts from Bulkparts.com ,their hp kit and TC. Had to make a few tools but no big deal. I really enjoyed doing it
