Chebby Pwr Brks: Use Ford 76/77 Power Disk Proportioning Valve or Manual H Block?

Which are you guys using for a POWER Chebby disk conversion? The factory Ford 76/77 Bronco power disk proportioning valve or did you keep the factory manual drum H block?

I'm currently using the Ford 76/77 Bronco power disk proportioning valve with my Ford Power Booster. Maybe I need to go back to the manual drum H block for better braking. Maybe my rears aren't getting enough pressure.

What do you think???????
Thanks,
Mikey

When I put the chevy discs on my 74 I left the stock block on it. There were no issues at all, the brakes worked well with that setup.

i've done 2 manuals with the factory 'h' block with no problems. when i do mine i'm going to use a prop valve. i have power brakes. i did one power with a prop valve and it worked fine too. your pedal feels softer with the 'h' block because you're having to push more fluid to the calipers, and the rears lock easier.

So you recommend keeping the proportioning valve with the power brakes rather than changing to the H block?

Thanks for your help....

I was under the impression that if you used a diffrent M/C then thats all you needed.( 79 F-250 Camper special) Is this correct. if you use this M/C do you still need a Prop. valve. Are the valves built in to the M/C? Or what about the 76-77 M/C? Did they usea Prop.valve on the stock 76-77 set-up?

I think it depends on the differences of each truck. Bigger tires or front to rear weight distribution factor in too. Some people use the proportioning valve, some don't need it. The stock '76-'77 valves seem to be expensive. Summit sells an adjustable one for about $40.
