I have the original 3-speed in my 77 and want to go to the NV3550 very soon. To fit the headers that I have installed, I had to do away with the old mechanical clutch linkage and put in a hydraulic clutch setup. Im curious how you guys with NV3550's are running the clutch linkage setup? Are you using a hydraulic type or does the original mechanical still work?

The NV3350 works with the mechanical clutch linkage as you use the stock bellhousing and clutch fork. The clutch disc and pressure plate are different than the stock 3 speed, but you use the original clutch fork, so your hydraulic system would be used and set up exactly as it is now.

If your hydraulic setup worked with the 3 spd, then it will work with the NV3550. There is absolutley no difference in how or where it bolts up/goes together. Good luck.

I use the stock mechanical linkage, but I had to make some modifications (shortened the Z bar about 1/4") to work with my Hedman headers.

The interference problem was a 351W and aftermarket head issue, not a NV3550 issue.
