Coil ohms

Happy Friday everybody!

I have a '77 with stock Duraspark ignition. I have been chasing some gremlins and it is now down to the distributor, regulator and/or the coil (I think).

My symptom is very similar to a Bronco I helped build for a buddy of mine....... It runs and starts great, but 15-20 min into driving, it starts wanting to stall out (fires right back up and idles beautifully). Fuel system has ALL been replaced and it is getting the needed fuel to function properly. I am now down to the ignition. I have ordered a new replacement distributor which will come in tomorrow (no upgrades, just going stock). A buddy has given me a new Pertronix coil but I am not certain that it has the right Ohms (primary .600ohms and secondary 9.00ohms). Will that coil work with my stock system? I hate to buy a new coil if this one will work but I just don't know what I need for it to operate correctly.

As well, I am thinking it is the magnetic pick up in the distributor or the voltage regulator that is causing my stalling (heating up). I had this happen one time and it caused the coil to crack and leak oil (coil was screaming hot).

Thanks for any help you provide on my plight.
