I am planning on hauling my Bronco to Colorado this summer to do some 4wheeling. We plan to stay near Winter Park because the family likes that area. Are there any trails in that area that anybody has done and can recommend?

I will probably buy the Northern Colorado Backroads book:
http://www.4x4books.com/cb2.htm

Are any of the trails in this book good?

While I am there I would also like to hit the Holy Cross trail which I have been on before but only on the lower, easier sections.

What date do you plan in being in Colorado? With the amount of snow we are receiving, late June will probably be when Holy Cross opens up to the top, at the earliest.

I've got that book, its a good one. I'll second the suggestion to post up at coloradoclassicbroncos.com. The club is pretty active and chances are good you'll find some folks to go wheeling with. Bill Moore Lake is a nice trip with a beautiful, classic Colorado mountain ending.

End of July would be better. Many of the good high trails just start getting busted through Mid to Late July especially with all our snow this year. As mentioned above check out our website and I'm sure you will have some company on the trail as you dont ever want to go in the High Country alone and many of us know the trails with our eyes closed.

Zilla, I'd follow you into the high country, but not if you keep your eyes closed. That would freak me out.

My next question was going to be "who wants to go with me?" I will check out the Colorado classic broncos website.

It doesn't look like I am allowed to post or register on coloradoclassicbroncos.com since I am not from Colorado. Hopefully I can and I just am not looking in the right place?

I don't think you have to be from Colorado to register, I believe thats only for the two member section. I'm registered but not a full member yet and I live in Colorado. I post on the forum all the time. Its a good site, you will defiantly find a good crew of us to go ride with you. Zillacon will help you out if you need it, he is an administrator for the club.

Like Zenzone had posted above, you dont have to be from Colorado to join the site, only to enter the Colorado Members section. We would be glad to have you come join us!
