• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I was the buyer of this motor. I wanted to make fellow bronco friends aware of a situation with a ClassicBroncos.com member who mis represented a 302 from a 77’ Bronco and did not include everything promised plus not disclosing that the engine burns a ton of oil and smokes, resulting in me getting screwed over. Originally I found the motor through classicbroncos and it was supposed to come with headers, air cleaner, and radiator. Other than that it was complete from carb to oil pan. It was missing 2 spark plugs which was odd and he didn’t have an answer for that. Plus the plugs looked fouled

It never came with the air cleaner or radiator. I spent 3 months going back and forth with him and he kept supposedly sending it from his “shop” but then ultimately said he would ship a different one and never did. During that time I was working on retrofitting the motor into a 66 so it took some work but once finally installed it smoked like a chimney and burned a lot of oil! Miles later it still smokes a lot and burns oil, but I’m stuck with it and the truck runs.

I went back to him with this issue and he was evasive. I originally paid $800 for the motor (over market price but I felt the add-ones made it worth it) so I requested a $200 partial refund as I was ultimately missing the radiator, air filter, and the motor had issues. I felt this was more than fair considering he advertised it with no issues and any repair would cost way more than that. His scapegoat was that I never checked the motor out in person prior to getting it shipped, but that wouldn’t have helped because I wouldn’t have heard it run! He doesn’t strike me as very knowledgeable about mechanics as he kept accusing my installer and myself of messing up the installation and I had to repeatedly explain to him that from “carb to pan” was what he gave me on the pallet, so there was no way for either of us to mess anything up since we did not take apart the engine. The exhaust and fuel was not the issue. Also he mentioned that he got screwed over on eBay before so I thought he was a good guy. Ultimately he called me a scam artist and scumbag and accused me of blackmailing him and lying about never receiving an air cleaner or radiator. I understand when you buy a used motor you’re taking a risk, however being that this was pulled from a running truck I expected it to be as-described.

His name is Ryle Magno and his username on classicbroncos is RyleM(the poster of the engine on this thread). He’s out of Washington state and North Carolina. I hope this information prevents someone else having to go through a similar ordeal.
