I was looking at the pricing for one of the vendors cages. When everything was added up, it was going to cost me about $1300 before shipping and welding. So it is more realistic that I will be spending $1600-1800. With that type of $ couldn't I go get a custom cage built? What did you guys do? Pics are always welcomed.

Cages

Be careful how extreme. Keep in mind if you are going to run a safari top. You might have to get the top custom made to the cage or have one altered to fit your cage. That is what I am facing. Good Luck. I would go custom so you can change whatever you want. Grab handles are a must have.

Or just get a basic 6 point kit from one of them, and then take it to a local shop and tell them what you want to add.

I am going to have a custom cage built when I get to that point, tied to the frame, grab handles, etc. Of course my BIL does that for a living so its a no brainer for me. Check some shops around your area and see what they would charge

I got the extreme custom fab, took it to my welder and had a couple of custom things done. Very happy with it, spent around $900 for the whole process, cage, shipping, welding, extra work, etc.

All our Broncos are different. Take it from someone that went through 3 "pre-fabbed" cages only to send them back......have one custom built for your Bronco....it will be cheaper, a lot less headache, and you will be much happier.

That's mine. PM me if you're interested in cost.

Exactly what he said! Type of cage is directly related to cost, hard core wheeler or mall crawler. High speed stuff (onroad/ freeway or offroad) all mean extra DollHairs$$. Also look for triangulation in design, equals strength. For example; Bailies family cage offers mild protection in the "family Area" of there cage. No triangles. Just my opinion

Exactly. One of my main concerns was complete coverge for the rear passengers (specifically my 2.5 year old boy). I also wanted the most headroom possible under the Bestop. The builder fit the cage to the Bestop perfectly!

Extreme custom fabricating. Bought the 6 point that thenhoops were "halfed". It made the shipping much cheaper.

My welder did have to rebend a number of bends to make angles match up w the door frames, etc. He's particular.

Here are some pictures of my Bailie Bilt Custom Family cage. Just got the rattle can finish on it. Will be a little before it gets mounted.
