Just got the Highlander hood from WH. Looks to be good quality. I want to cut the slots in the hood for the driver's vent and heater box. I searched but couldn't find any threads on this. Has anyone done this successfully? I thought I would drill holes at each end of each indentation and use a hand jig saw to cut them out. Will the fiberglass strips left be strong enough?

Thanks for any help.

I just hole-sawed mine but it's a primered trail truck. I've had a lot of luck trimming fiberglass with a dremel. Once it's cut you might want to consider epoxying some perforated stainless to the back side to give those slats some support and also acts like a filter to keep larger debris(read leaves) out of the ducts.

Thanks.

That's a really good idea about the perforated stainless. Would add stringth and keep the larger stuff out.

Tahnks.

First off welcome to the site, second make sure that you wear long sleaves gloves and wear a mask fiberglass will get into your skin, mouth, nose ect and will itch like a mother for a long time. I know I cut holes in my hood scoop on my 69 and the itching lasted for days.

I cut mine out, the look like crap, maybe it was just my cutting. They the vents are strong enough after cutting.
I tried a rotozip dry wall bit, it was hard to control, ended up using a jigsaw with fine blade.

If I were to do it again I would just drill a bunch of 1/4 in holes.
