What is the easiest way to remove the light switch knob and any other switch that does not use a small Allen screw or the knob does not screw in

On the light switch knob I have it looks like it was pressed in. I have a benzel tool for the benzel but I can't figure out how to remove this knob with possible damaging the shaft it's attached to or damaging the knob even though I plan on replacing all the knobs on the switched

There is a little button on the top of the headlight switch housing (behind dash) push it down and (you have to twist it to the dome lamp on position I think if I remember right) pull the whole headlight knob/shaft out! im trying not to laugh, I hope you all didn't ruin the knob by now!

Actually luck was on my side if it is lucky my heat gun decided to not work so seeing I had been in the shop all day I thought it was time for a cold beer to call it the night

The headlight switch shaft and knob come out as one piece. There is a button on the backside (inside the headlight switch mechanism) that has to be depressed and the shaft & knob will pull right out. Then, remove the bezel on the dash side and the hole switch will come out (after you detach the harness)

I don' think the knob is supposed to come off the shaft but if you try hard enough, it probably will - just not supposed to.

Good luck

Ok looks like this is a few years old but I’ll give it a shot. I bought the billet knob set - Is it heat gun for all except the one with the Allen key? Just heat gun and pliers?? Light switch knob heat too? Thanks 1976

The ones that are an integral part of the cable or shaft - heater switch, choke, headlight switch, etc. have to be damaged to be removed. Either by melting them off with heat or breaking them into pieces.

As you noted, the others are held on with a small allen head set screw on the bottom. Those pull right off once you loosen the set screw.
