Deaver Leaf Spring

Hi All,

I'm trying to identify what rear leaf spring lift I have on my '74 Bronco. The label on the leaf spring says Deaver 1645H5 and in smaller print says 47877. I tried an internet search with no results. Does anyone know what lift these are? I'm guessing 3.5"-4.5", but don't really know.

Thanks

I posted a similar question several years back on a FB group I think, and Suzy Duff was able to answer it. Not sure if she'll see this hear, but maybe one of the vendors will chime in.

Could that number be a load rating and number of leafs?

They are 11 leaf. Thought they might be from the Wild Horses stable, but don't match their part numbers. Running 35" tires with no body lift. Clears fine on the street, but yet to check clearance with full articulation.

So check this. The set that we called about are hopefully going in my bronco tomorrow...depending on life with two kids and wife out of town, right? I just ran out to check the number on them. 1645H5. So if I recall, they are the HD version of 3.5 lift springs.

My dad has been running these for about a year with some blocks, and when I told him I was going to do a lift kit, he suggested I get some 5.5 for his and I could get these that are already broke in... So we'll see how well the old stuff comes out tomorrow!

#garberz - Ahh, that makes sense, 4.5". Begs the question, which I'm sure has been addressed in earlier posts, but I'll ask anyway knowing I may get some grief: What amount of lift is required for a given tire size on early Broncos. I noticed that certain vendors do not advertise a tire fitment guide with their lift kits. I know it depends on usage, wheel offset, etc. , but there must be a general guideline. Thoughts anyone?

My thoughts are that there are about 30 variables and you named two of them.

1) Will you have body lift?

2) How much up travel do you have?

3) Are your fenders cut? Front and Rear?

4) HOW MUCH are they cut?

5) blah blah.

Below is mine with 3” BL and 3” lift springs and 37s in the front. Stock in the back with 35s. Fenders are cut HUGE.

I run less than 3” of lift up front, and the rears are 4.5” with a few leafs removed to lower the height. 2” body lift with 35” tires.

I have to check my spring numbers when I get back in town. I was running a 3 1/2 Front coil and a 3 1/2 add a leaf to my stock springs. It had a rear squat. I figured I would get a new set of 3 1/2 rear springs . I don’t have the Deaver part number with me. Anyway these picked the rear up too high. So put a set of 5.5 coils in it. The truck sits level and handles well. However It handled better with the 3.5 coils. I need to figure out what rear leaf I need for my 3 1/2 coils when I put them back in. One day I going to learn to leave stuff alone.

Well
I have 1645H9. So that’s a 4.5 lift spring ? That would explain why it sat too high with my 3 1/2 coils. It sits pretty level now with 5 1/2 coils. Just for reference numbers my axle measurements are Rear - top of tube to bottom of frame 11 1/2 inches. Front - top of axle tube to bottom of frame 12 1/2 inches

Does the H5 and H9 mean the lift heights?
I thought I had a great insite on a conversion. But as it comes out I don't have a clue.
