Desperate Plea For Help - Wire Harness help needed in TN

Yup, I know, I've been gone from the board for a while and as soon as I come back, I'm asking for help? Well, here goes nothing...

For those of you that don't know me - I've got a 74 with a fresh engine that I haven't driven for 3 years now because of a dash reconstruction project that has now becaome a wiring harness issue...

Bottom line, I'm tired of chasing my tail fixing the existing harness and I'm ready to put in a new one. Only problem is, I can't afford a high dollar harness so I'm looking at the ones from EZ wire. Then there's the fact that I'm not physically able to do the labor due to the fact that I'm paralyzed from the mid chest down and can't get to half the places I need to from my wheelchair...

So - Who's used an EZ wire or similar harness, how do I make it work with factory switches and Ummm.... anyone want to volunteer to help me put in a new harness so I can drive my Bronco? I don't pay worth a dam but I'm good on a grill and know where they sell lots of icy cold adult beverages...

One good thing about Broncos is that the wiring is very simple so a new harness will be easy. If I was closer I'd be glad to help out. Hopefully someone close by will see this soon.;)

Thanks guys and trust me Randy, I'd love to be up there closer ya. I love TN but dammit, these country roads seem to be hundreds of miles away from everyone at times!

bentendo - I hadn't seen that one before. Does it have all the plugs/terminals to hook up to things like the heater control, wiper control and bulb holders or did you have to splice them in?

Unfortunately, no. I pulled my old harness out, and saved all the plugs, harnesses, and ends so I could reattach everything.

Thanks - I've still got the original harness in the truck but it seems like everytime I fix something on it, I find 3 more places that need it. I tell ya what - See of you do still have it and if so, what kind of shape it's in?

Not trying to be picky on a freebie, just don't want to swap it all out and wind up in the same boat I'm in now...

Would be nice to be able to run up for a day, The EZ would take about a day, Long day but a day to get it in. I used one on mine and could not be happier, I have to 21 circuit so plenty of extras without having to piggy back.
You would use all your current pig tails, Get an assortment of crimp connectors, or a soldering gun and shrink wrap. I crimped mine, even added the blade connectors alot of places just to be able to disconnect things.
Been 2 and a half years and not one electrical issue. and now that I am doing an EFI, I am glad I used this harness, the wiring for everything is already there.

Good luck finding someone to help you, Maybe those of us who cannot make it can pressure those closer to help. BajaFresh may know someone close.

ez-wiring

I have used the full sized 21 circuit in my 55 Chevy and was pleased with it and had no problems. I am currently putting the 21 circuit mini panel in my 73 bronco. It has gone well but I think it will take someone a couple of long days to install it. It just depends on your skill level and what kind of changes from stock your going to make. I did souce a lot of connectors so I could re-use the factory dash plugs and lights. I replaced all exterior plugs with weather pac connectors. The mini panel also has a factory terminated dimmer switch and the leads are not very long. This will make it necessary to mount the panel within 30" of the dimmer switch, or splice in longer wires.

I installed an ez wire harness on my 1965 f100 about 10 years ago and it was very easy. I haven't had an issue yet.

Sounds like some great feedback, thanks guys and Randy - I may still be talking to you about your harness. The plug portion of my ignition switch is pretty toasty...

As mentioned earlier, I still have all of my factory connectors and terminations so they'll be reused. My guages are all aftermarket though so the dash won't be tough - just the ignition, wiper and headlight switches and then of course the headlight's, tailights, fuel tank sending unit will be the factory stuff. Oh - and I'm changing the dimmer switch into a simple toggle that will be dash or hand control mounted so length of the harness isn't an issue but good information to know!

Hey Rev, speaking of EFI, I've got all the stuff I was putting together for my swap that I won't be using now. Come pick it up and you can do the wiring harness while you're here ;D

Well, lots of thumbs up for the EZ Wire Harness, at least that makes me feel better about using it.

What all does the harness include for under the hood?
