Distributor shaft collar issue

I was replacing the distributor gear with a melonized gear today and this collar at the top of the shaft spilt in two on the shaft. I can’t find this part anywhere. Is there a specific name I should be looking for? I can’t remember how to upload pics on this site. It sits at the top of the shaft right up against the distributor body. It had a roll pin going through it. Looks like a slip collar or something. Any help?

Ford small block distributors came with shafts of 2 diameters; 0.530" and 0.467". I'm assuming your referring to the collar that is pined on the shaft just below the housing. What size shaft do you have? I can send you either. Just PM your address.

I believe the difference in shaft diameter is 302 vs 351.

No. There are 302 shafts in both diameters. All the 351W shafts are 0.530" diameter. The difference between 302 and 351W distributor shafts is the oil pump hex drive. 351s have a 5/16" drive and 289/302s have 1/4" drive. I have both 1/4" and 5/16" drive sockets in the larger diameter 0.530" diameter distributor shafts. I think the later 302s with hydraulic roller lifters got the distributors with the larger diameter shafts. All the 221-289s got smaller diameter shafts as did early 302s. Catalogs from Jeg's and Summit list the larger diameter gear holes for the 302s they call 5.0s. They don't assign a model year to the point of change over.

I am in need of a distributor collar for my 351W (.530"). I broke mine. Would you happen to have an extra one you could part with? Thank you, Paparet
