Do i have to removehe grill before painting the car?

Be carefull what you wish for....hada 68 Ford with a cabover camper which had standard auot plates mon it because it was considered a motorhome. Took the camper offf and was driving down the hiway but got stopped by the CHP and was ticketed for auto plates.Since it was now a "truck" had to buy commercial plates at 3 times the cost!
