Doubler driveshaft length?

I installed my C6,203&205 this weekend. My DS length is 24" sitting flat, with 5 1/2" susp. my rear end is pointed at the tranny case. I'm worried about what cv joint or DS combo to go with.

I've done a search, Saddle up said all he had to do was to swap the front with the rear. I don't have any stock shafts so I'll be building them or having them built with 1330 joints.

My front DS worked out to be 34 1/2", I have one that came out of a 86' F350 front that worked great as long as the splines will be long enough.

Thanks in advance,

David

I moved my front end forward and rearend back. Mine is almost flat with the frame so that made it even worse. I just made a new one out of square tubing and that seems to be the ticket for me. probably not the most balanced driveshaft out there though.

I've been running a ZF/NP203/Dana 20 combo for 6 yrs with a 23 1/2" long rear driveshaft.

Go with a double carden driveshaft like your stock one.

No problems if you have the pinion rotated up properly and have a well designed anti-wrap bar. I've gone thru one rear ujoint in that time with some hard wheeling and 70mph driving for hours at a time.

I stuck a stock BB CV shaft in it last night after I posted. It has the 1330 joints in it, and only will flex about 3" below the pinion.

I talked to Driveshafts Unlimited yesterday, they said it would probably work if it would flex that much stock. I didn't ask how much to clearance it, but they said they could gain around 3" over stock.

That would give me 6" of pinion travel, with the Cage springs, I'll probably need a center limiting strap. The travel should be at the wheels not at the pinion.

nvrstuk, did you clearance yours? I was planning on the center style anti wrap bar.

I'm running 3 1/2" of susp lift and Tom Woods clearanced the yoke when shortening the shaft so I could get a few more degrees out of it. I'm figuring that your extra susp lift ht could force you to use a limiting strap like you mentioned. I'm maxed out for travel just when my ujoints are.

nvrstuck, how is the front driveline with that setup. Glad to hear someone finally post a length...I will be running the same setup with a 205 at the end instead of the 20.... Your maxed in the back now, the front driveline should be somewhere around 35" or so with that setup, and the angles MUCH better than before????? At least that is what I'm hoping...I too will be runnning the 3.5 springs.....
