Ran across this on Ebay.... Can anyone help me understand what this really gives you when installing a Hydroboost? I do not have the 76-77 bracket, and I am looking to mount the HB directly to the firewall.

Any thoughts? I have ready a few articles and I think that is where I am getting into trouble.. I should stop reading and just move forward.

These are the parts that mount inside the stock bracket to change the angle of the pushrod because the bracket is angled. If you are mounting the HB directly to the firewall without the angled bracket then you do not need these parts.

Here are a couple of pictures of those parts installed in the bracket.

I've never seen the point in using the angled bracket on a Hydro Boost swap, the angled bracket was to give some room for the vacuum booster which you aren't using with the hydro booster.

I remember reading threads on here about guys put in the HB without the bracket. Search for hydroboost on here and I'm sure you will find some discussion on not using the bracket.

Kinda my design..

this will give you a bolt on hydroboost, replace the stock assy with this one and bolt on an astro hydrobooster, no cutting or threading the push rod.

there are a dozen ways to mount the hydroboost you just need to pick one, I tried about a half dozen of them including trying about 1/2 dozen different boosters.

see some of it here:

I was looking for an easy bolt on hydrobooster that would clear EFI so I had the ebay guy make the bracket he is selling. I did not like using spacers or cutting and re-threading the push rod or use a booster that was 1 in a million, I can go to any junk yard and find an astro booster and pull it in 15 minutes.

Thanks ransil. I used that bell crank kit off E-bay on my 76'. It sure made everything simple. But if you don't have the angle bracket, then you'll need to go a different route.

I would never have got the bracket right without your help.

I'm setting mine up with the e-bay bellcrank

I already had an angle bracket. If my hydro ever takes a dump, I'll just run down grab another one and bolt it on. No modification needed to a very available replacement part. Plus it seems like it will be easier to get to the plugs and exhaust bolts. JMO

You would want the angled bracket, if you're running Ford EFI for upper mannifold (plenum) clearance. Some have figured out the clearance issue other ways, but if you already have the bracket, it makes it easy.

.
why not straight to the firewall. do the pedal shift and you will clear any motor install and bolt to the strongest part of the body. This makes the brakes feel "firmer" as there is little to no flex in brackets and rods to activate it.

some pics of a shifted hydroboost with a 351 motor
