Was recently toying with an engine swap but decided that for the time being I'll simply put an Edelbrock 2121 intake with a 1406 600cfm carb on my stock '77 302.
From those who have this set up, is it a straight bolt on or do I need a linkage kit or any other "extras" before installing.

Thanks.

pretty strait, you will need to make your own throttle linkage really easy! you will love it

I used my stock linkage...no problems.
I personally think you would be happier with the 500 on a stock engine. That's what I chose and it works great.

I have the combo your looking at...it runs well on the street and around town. I saw a big improvement in power from my stock carb, but it was dying. Off road, this carb has a few weaknesses. If you do a search on here and look for modifications to improve this carb for that purpose, it will help and do that well too. I dont go off road too often, so I never bothered as I plan to go EFI soon. If your not in a hurry....Good luck with your choice. Stock linkage works perfect.

Thanks, I was also thinking about the 500cfm, any comments from those who have one or tried one compared to a 600cfm. I read about how the Edels aren't the best for off road but for now my truck is used mostly on paved roads. I'm just looking for a little more get up and go.

I am running the 600 cfm edelbrock carb on my new motor. It runs amazing but my motor has been built a bit. Mines bored 30 over, has edelbrock performer camshaft, valve springs, timing chain, edelbrock performer intake, and 600cfm carb. I could not be any happier this thing has some serious power. Next is WH shorty headers and new exhaust!

I would personally go with a Holley Truck Avenger. Right now Summit and Jegs only list the 670 and 770 cfm models, but I know they are making smaller models also. Right now I have an old Holley 600cfm 4160 and it sucks off road. I plan to go with a Truck Avenger whenever funds will allow.
