Mine doesn't line up either but it doesn't affect performance to me. Just a little outboard. I have the automatic kick-down adapter too.

Cable type throttle will solve your problem as well as curing the yo-yo effect when going over objects. Why not kill two birds with one stone?

I did 2 things:
Made an adapter plate to relocate the little linkage pivot lever thingy.
Modified the rod to hook up to the carb linkage.

I agree! I went with a cable set-up from BC Broncos, and it much more cleaner and simpler than the old mouse trap linkage.

if you look at the stock lincage rods, you can use the stock rods, all you have to do is drill a hole in one of the pins and use a clip to hold the rod onto the edl. arm. I will try post a pic if I can figure out how...

The Edelbrock carb should have come with a ball that you attach to the linkage. Mine did but if it didn't then you can just get one in the Help! isle of your local parts store.

It has been a long time, but it seems like when I still used the arm linkage I bent the arm off the fire wall to make it more of straight line with the carb.
