Hi all,
I screwed up my Edlebrock performer 302 intake ...so I ordered a new one from Summit. They sent me what I guess is the NON-EGR Performer 289/302 which I mistakenly? ordered -new one has Performer 289 stamped on it. I noticed the Performer 289 doesn't have passages for the two rear ports (Non-EGR?? what is EGR exactly...emissions related?) So, impatiently, I decided to put it on anyway. Question is before I complete the install these two rear ports are causing me some concern as they are just blocked by the new intake. Will this be OK to just have these blocked like that or will they be the cause of some future leakage?
Next is the carb base on the new intake seems to be a lot smaller than the one from my old performer 302. Before the questions my previous set up was this from intake up 1) gasket, 2) 1/8" to 3/16" steel spacer/adadptor (not sure there from previous owner), 3) gasket, 4) plastic riser 1" tall, 4) gasket then 600 CFM edelbrock carb. Do I need this 1/8" to 3/16" steel spacer/adaptor...or can I just go gasket, plastic riser, gasket, carb which seems to fit better on the new intake? I'm asking because there is a good bit of overhang using the steel spacer where as the plastic fits better to new intake carb base.
Thanks for your help.
