Has anybody ever put a later model, not after market, electric wiper set-up into an older Vac. frame? If so pics, measurements...anything of that would be helpful....
Or is it just better to try to find an electric wiper frame on the cheap?

I just drilled the right hand hole to match the new style wipers. I am 200 miles from my bronco now, but I am sure someone here can give you the measurement between the holes. Do the Jeep wiper conversion at the same time and you will be pleased.

jeep wiper conversion = cherokee wiper arm conversion.

If you don't want to drill a new hole, can you modify the linkage (shorten it) to use the original holes?

If your welding skills are fairly good... covering the vac holes and drilling new elextric holes isn't a problem.

I filled in the vac holes and drilled for the electric stock wiper setup.

I thought about modifying the linkage and using the vac holes but because I'm using a stock wiper cover and headliner... using the vac holes wold have made the cover and liner not fit by several inches as none of the holes are common to both.

Save yourself the headache... fill the vacs and drill for electrics...

I'll measure the electric hole placement and post later today.

I don't have pics, but I cut out a section of the linkage and used a peice of 1/8" x 3/4"?, I think, flat stock steel and drilled some holes through it and the linkage arm and used some pop rivets to connect the steel and linkage together. I hope that makes sense. not he prettiest, but it works for now.

problem...I have never welded before and I don't have a welder....aaaaargh

Lowes has metal plugs that will fit the hole. Just paint it match your paint and it is hardly noticeable. That's what I did until I get a chance to weld the holes.

I can't post pictures here I don't think, but all you need to do is drill out your vacuum holes slightly (3/4" if I my memory is correct) and lengthen the stock electric wiper linkage about 6 inches. This was much less destructive in my opinion than welding on the windshield frame. Also when you do the mod this way your wipers stay spaced as Ford intended. If you PM me your email I will send you some pictures of mine.

This is kind of funny... Why because i am running in to the same thing... I have a frame that is set up for vac wipers and i have eletric wipers.. So a buddy of mine has a great frame that he is giving me for eletric set up... So maybe see if any body has a frame you can buy or have... It is worth a shot...

This would be the easiest way if you never plan on using the factory wiper cover.

I've got the electric wipers on a vacuum windsheild frame. I recommend drilling new holes for the wipers and plugging the old ones. I'm using the vacuum wiper holes, and the d/s wiper isn't infront of the driver. I assume that the vacuum wipers had a wider swipe. If you reuse the vacuum holes, you have to add a few inches to the linkage. I think if you do a search you can find a thread that has the length you need to add.
