Is there any solid way to build up the hole in the backing plate where the cable goes through? I'm going to change mine out today (hopefully) and I think one side is quite sloppy at that point.

You can always buy new backing plates, not too expensive..

I just checked all the linked vendors at the top of the screen. None show backing plates. Oh well. Burn some wire if need be.

Same problem I had,welded some washers on the outside,backing plates are not cheap!
