Been reading about the pros/cons of blocking off the intake manifold heat crossover. My buddy lives in NW Georgia and I am doing efi and am thinking if I keep in lwr intake cool I can I stall the upper w/o a heat spacer to minimize hood interference. Is this a bad idea?

Question... What year Explorer upper/lower intake?

Generally the later years (97 1/2 and later) may of had a cross over in the lower, but there was no provision to feed the upper. Since the EGR was fed externally. The port on the lower had no place to go so all it could do is cross over. If you plug the lower intake round feeder port, thread and plug or use a small freeze plug, then problem of a spacer is not a concern for hood clearance. If I am following you correctly...

Yes. You got it. I did plug the lower to upper hole. So I should be good. Thank you

904, which intake manifold gaskets should I use attaching the lower intake to 1972 cast iron heads with the small cooling ports at the head? The explorer gaskets are big at the cooling port, wonder if a good sealer will help or not.
