So, I bought a 78 f250 HP D44 to replace the 79 f150 d44. I'm trying to figure out pinion angle and the caster. It will be sitting roughly at 5.5" lift with 14" king coilovers, and solo motorsports radius arms. It seems the 250 d44 only has 8 degrees of separation. I know with the zf transmission I'm pushed back like 3" or so over stock. So the longer drive line will help. Just wondering what the optimal pinion angle should be with a HP at that amount of lift. I'm basically starting with a blank slate, as the previous owner had installed a 3 link that wasn't done very well.

The answer is always the same, to me, regardless of what axle: I try to get 6-7 degrees of caster and the pinion angle should always end up with 1-2 degrees of zero, relative to the drive shaft tube. Sometimes I'll cheat on the pinion angle, giving the caster a higher priority.
