Most people mount the F250 shock mounts as high as the top of the bracket will fit inside the inner fender area. After you cut off the old mounts, hold the new mounts on the frame and take some measurments. The higher the mounts, the longer the shock can be.

By the way --- your old shock bracket locations make a perfect pattern placement to mount your new shock brackets to. I would take a used shock and mount it to the bottom mount, then bolt the new shock tower to the upper mount and hold into place to tack weld for easy shock location. When your satisfied with the position and fit, weld into place.
