faux exaust style trend on new vehicles...hideous...wtf?

Hey folks,

As a lover of all things automotive I just can't warm up to these fake exhausts. OEMs say it is to reduce repair costs and lower insurance premiums, but I just can't see that. I never really liked fake scoops and such but could live with it...this, is just over the top nonsense!

What's your $.02?
