I painted my frame last year and have decided that the color is wrong, I painted it with zolotone and a very good clear. So can I get by with just scuffing the clear coat and shoot or do I have to go farther past the clear.

Thanks craig

I'm guessing you are useing a basecoat again for the color change? If so I would use 400 by hand and follow that with a red Scotchbrite. No need to sand off the clear but if you do sand thru don't worry about it.
At work I use hookit sand paper which is a velcro type backing. When sanding by hand it sticks very well to the scuff pad and then turn it over and use the scuff pad side. By using the scuff pad as a backing pad for the sandpaper it conforms good into the hard to reach areas.

no need for any primer unless large area of bare metal. If the spot is very small a spray can of 1K will be fine.
