What are your opinions on this? Is there a difference in the feel on the road and trail? Does one create a firmer ride than the other?

Are there any downsides to the aftermarket urethane bushings?

Urethane is firmer than the OEM rubber. The ride will be a tad firmer but I doubt you would notice. Advantage is that they are available in different offsets to provide more caster for lifts. Downside is that they are firmer and therefore limit articulation some. Unless you wheel really hard where articulation is a big concern then that wouldn't be a problem. Another downside to rubber is that it will wear out faster.
