All we used was two stage except base coat.
Epoxy Primer Sealer - DP 74
Sandable Primer - K 36
Base - Omni AU MBC
Clear - Delta CB 100 Blending Clear
My dad did all the painting. The PPG store here said for the Boxwood green, the only available paint was the Omni. We had some problems with it. It would start flaking occassionaly. He would not want to use that again he said.
Other than that, the process was pretty smooth. Sanding down the old paint was not much fun. The truck had been repainted over the original job at some point, and that paint had cracked (like an egg shell). Not flaking but cracked. So we sanded it all off. Next comes the epoxy primer, body filler where needed and sanding the filler. Then the Sandable primer. Mopre sanding, filler untill all smooth and flat. Very tedious for us rookies, but not impossible. Then comes base. This would not have been a bad stage except the problems we had. Then comes clear coat. After it dries, you wet sand then polish with polish then eventually it will be smooth and ready to go.
My dad restores old chevy's and has all the paint equipment for painting equipment. We did not redo the hardtop so the only difficult part to paint was the hood. Flat is tough to get smooth and straight.
We also stripped all the anodizing off the aluminum trim pieces and repolished with the buffing wheel.
