The Fire Bronco that I got had a bunch of bugs that needed to be taken care of.
One of them was the glove box door and the front cage, The common interference. The glovebox door only had one hinge bolted loosely with one screw on the top part and a nut and bolt on the bottom and to open it you need to twist the door to get stuff in and out. All we need is 1" and it would clear the front post.
Well I really wanted to relocate the glovebox like I did my 77 but that would mean down time for the EB, I really enjoy driving this Fire Bronco!! I didn't realized I missed the feeling of driving a modified EB and this one's got a carpet interior. I got a few spares so I'll build a dash on the side and swap it in later but I need to address the problem with the door and the cage for now.
Working with a spare dash, a few hinges, a tape measure and 4 1/2" grinder with a cutting wheel I came up with this.........
Compare the original hinges on the top to the ones I modified, The pins were never removed, The pieces were cut very carefully. The passenger side hinge I cut in a V-notch to clear the lip in the center of the door opening and left a section on the hinge to act as a stop so the door won't drop down.
Picture book tech......Enjoy and copy as you please....
