Hmmm-- I've been watching this thread... Was at the local glass shop today getting some stuff done on the '55.
So asked them about this. Response was "$250 for a template????? All one has to do is cut the glass a little larger leaving a gap for the Tee shaped molding to go into"
He explained to me that the glass book specs the size of the windshield (a rectangle) and the he would measure the opening and go from there. This gentleman does street rods, etc, where a little figuring and ingenuity come into play. He didn't think it was that big of a deal... (of course he has 30 years of experience)
He did my windshield the other day in my Bronco. Cut it out of bulk tint laminated-- was in the for a couple hours.... (and he recommended laminate, 'cause tempered can't be cut in a normal glass shop)

Thanks for the info. It was $250 total.

I almost remember I had my glass cut for 170 and took a buddy of mine about 45 minutes to cut the template out of craft paper.

i have been doing this for years on the broncos that i built
we always use tinted lam 1/4 glass
i haven't had any issues with them cracking however i dont do rock climbing i do however have a fairly powerfull motor that i like to stand on and it twist the body up prety good.
my dad has been doing glass install for 30 years and he helps me with mine. if you have someone that will take the time you can make it look real good inside and out
i will put the photos up of the one that i have now it has been in for about 6 months
i like to put small clear setting blocks on the bottom to help with setting it
