I would like to get rid of the old non-adjustable vavletrain with a set of gt40p heads! Do these have the same size cc's as the stock 74 heads, and will are they basically ready to accept roller rockers?
GT40 P heads are also non adjustable.(although they can be shimmed) They are pedastal mount rocker arms that use a small bolt to hold them to the head. CC size is about the same maybe a little smaller depending ao actual size of your 74 heads. Keep in mind that gt40p heads also require different headers/exhuast manifolds that stock 74 heads although some people have clearanced bronco headers enough to make them work.
There are roller rockers that bolt on gt40 heads I also believe you can get roller rockers that bolt on to stock 74 heads.
In my opinion they are not worth the effort unless you already have them. There are many aftermarket heads that are much better as far as valve sizes CC size and setup for adjustable rockers and some are relatively cheap.
The 74 heads would require guide plates to run a true roller rocker arm. If you run the late model heads on the 74 motor you will need new push rods as the length will change and I do not think the late model push rods from a roller motor will work, to short and the 74 push rods may be to long?
