Trying to dial in the last little issue in my TA 670 and I can't figure it out. Cold start, idle, warm up are all great. I was running a little lean so I upped the front jets which solved most of the issues as well as changing the pump cam. Acceleration and cruise are excellent but there is one litttttttle issue.

Under normal operation I have a decent ping in 4th and 5th from 1800-2000 rpm. If I accelerate from 1000 up to 5000 it's not there but if i cruise back down to 1900 it's back. Below 1800 and above 2000 it's gone. Of course 1900 is my highway cruise speed......

Anyways, here are all the variables:

SBF 347 stroker
RPM Air Gap Intake
Holley TA 670
Proform HEI Dizzy
Autolite 104 plugs
Ford Racing Wires
ZF 5 speed

TA Setup:

primary jets 70
secondary jets 72
blue cam in #2 hole
Yellow secondary spring
#35 squirter
8.5 power valve
initial timing is 10 vacuum advance to 32
idle vacuum 17

I know the advance seems low at 10 but it pings HORRIBLY across the range if I go any higher. It doesn't blow any smoke under acceleration.

Thoughts? THanks

Just to prove my stupidity I RE-checked timing and well....errrr.....uhhhhh.....Doesn't that vacuum line go on the OTHER port? Somewhere during the UnEvent Carb clean adventure out I managed to connect to the wrong vacuum port.....

I will go drink now. Nothing to see here.

Let us know if the ping is gone. I was going to suggest a timing issue. as it sounded like the advance curve may have been a little to fast.

That's the first thing I usually check on a carb (since I hate them). Glad to hear you got it working!

Can't believe I switched the ports but then again I can given the circumstances. Oh well, seems to be back to normal now and running great.

It's always the little things.....
