Well I ended up on the side of the road twice this weekend and both times someone had pulled over to help before my wheels had stopped turning. I always offer help to those I see stranded and I was suprised at the response. Both events were minor and I was back up and going with out any major work. The first issue was a leaky oil filter because the old seal had stuck to the block when I changed the filter. Bob, who had owned two EBs in the past, guessed the problem as soon as I opened the hood. He hung around to chat while we waited for the engine to cool off. Just in case it was something more serious. After I was ready to go he gave me his cell in case I needed help. There is hope for humanity after all. Just in case you were wondering the second time was self inflicted. I am trying to empty the aux tank so I can clean it out. It works for about 10 minutes before clogging. I know a siphon would work better.

Must have been that kind of weekend. My wife left her keys which have a deal attatched that holds her credit cards, cash, and driver's license on top of my car while she was putting my son in his child's seat. Needless to say they fell off on the road, and I walked up and down the street looking for them Sunday. After she called all of the card people and I changed the locks on the house, the Tulsa Police showed up at 10:15 at night with the keys -- cash and everything there. Seems somebody found them and turned them in to the TPD. Hope springs eternal.

still makes me wonder WTF! i found 3 wallets last year. all had cash and CC`s i returned all of them. 1 had at least $1000.00 in cash.(the angel on my shoulder won that round!:) ) .i chased the guy down after he left it sitting on his bumper and it fell off right in front of me at a light when he pulled away. another was lying in an intersection at 6am.i drove about 10 miles out of my way to deliver it to the owner.and the last was some college girl.i noticed it on the side of the road on my way to a job.on the way back 2hrs later.it was still there so i stopped and dropped it at her house.

we for sure need lots more people like that, and most people aren't even that worried about the money. its the things that they can't replace and trouble they have to go through to cancell everything?:?

Reading this I just have to smile:) This past weekend I saw a man standing at an intersection holding a sign " Hungry, please help, God Bless" I stopped and asked if he needed something to eat. He replied yes and smiled. I told him to go across the street to a restaurant and I would turn around and be right there to buy him anything he wanted to eat. To my surprise, he said ( now get this) he could not leave because a friend was supposed to be stopping by to pick him up. I guess he wasn't that hungry after all. But hey, I stopped to ask and offer.

I ussually will help. And more then once had other people stop when my Bronco crapped out on me. But the BEST act of kindness I ever saw was from the a local off roader A few of my friends were kicking it around off road and a guy in a Chebby blew his rear axle. This guy...Tom i think, who happened to be with them, said he could help. Drove to the Next town over (like 30min. away) picked up an old axle from his ranch, drove back (30min) and then did a trail install. And when my friend went to go pay Tom, Tom gave him a really low deal, after refusing payment twice. He said he just wanted to see us kids (which we are 15-18 ) having as much fun as we can while young.
