My pinion yoke on the new dana 44 i installed leaks real nice. so i purchased a new seal and nut. i removed the old nut now what. Hammer away to get it to pop off.

What is the torque setting for the nut when I replace?

Lastly does the seal just get tapped into place with a rubber malott?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts

I've done a couple of axles, not the D44 yet-but it should work just like you said for everything. Not sure on the torque...might be 90' or more??>>dont remember,Chuck

U need some kind of puller to pull it off. I bought a yoke puller from Matco & it works great.. but U might be able to use a steering wheel puller or something.. I wouldn't beat on it unless the ring gear is removed.. U wouldn't want to break a tooth changing a seal.. & don't over tighten, U wouln't want to burn up those bearings..

You will never break a tooth pounding the yoke off. At the worst it may damage the holes for the u-bolts. Stick a block of wood behind it and it will not even do that. Personally I just use a dead blow hammer.
