How many Broncos have you saved?

I was just curious with all the Bronco fanatics on this forum - How many Early Broncos have you saved and put back on the road or trails. Not owned, but the ones you took out of a field or barn that were all rusted up or haven't ran in 10 yrs and made good usable vehicles out of them. It would be interesting to see the total number Early Broncos that have been saved by the members on here.
As always post pics if you got'em.

Just one so far that you could truly say was dragged from a field and brought back to life.

My friend, cous and I did this in three months. Granted we were between the ages of 16-17.

The day we dragged it home:

After tearing into it, she needed door posts, and an upper cowl. Not to mention all new lines, running gear, engine, trans, harness...well you get the picture.

After busting tail all summer and some rattle can paint, this is what she turned out to be. Notice the missing rockers... at 4.50 an hour job, 150 for a set of rockers was big money especially after scrounging to get this thing running by my senior year.

The parts to get her running were taken from the one that was totalled after a Mustang GT slammed into the side of her. I walked away thanks to my buddy Joe Hrpcha welding in some solid steel floors not just a few weeks earlier.

This was truly a no help from adults build, just us three guys learning as we went along.

I rescued mine from a life of hauling surf boards around in the corrosive salt air environment of Santa Cruz, CA, and gave it a new life as a mountain trail rig and weekend driver. It lives comfortably in my garage where its kept clean and maintained. Fixed all the PO's "rig jobs" and made it safe to drive. So I count that as one life saved. lol.

I am guessing the two Andy's have this category pretty good (Blue71 and BajaBronco).

I am on my third build. The first one wasn't too bad it had been rolled and left for dead by the PO. The second one was stripped down and sitting behind my Dads friends shop for about fifteen years before I got it. It wasn't in too bad of shape either. This latest one I have was a complete rust bucket when I got it. I got it from a guy who bought it for parts and didn't realize how bad it was until he got it home. He had it for about seven years before I got it. Hopefully I will have it back on the road this summer!

Not saved from the scrap yard or the barn really but my wife thinks I'm saving them.

I am on my 9th build currently.... I think?

5 frame Off Restorations.

The others were in good driver shape with upgrades added. Lift/tires/wheels, PS, PDB and Motor.

I really like the 2 I have now (76 and 77) and may not do another one. Planning on keeping these once completed.

... Well I'll say the one I now Drive as my. 1st But the white 65 as my cousin always said when he came to get parts for it. I GUESS it was a 66 . But back in the day he swore it said it was a 65 on it title.. It's being rebuilt now for a trail rig .. & there's the 68 We sold and It too is setting in a shop .. Mostly waiting for more TLC too come it's way.
... & then there is a 74 Bronze . We bought & sold later .. The tail section ''Tub'' is being used . He's put a new frame under it . AND Now has bought a Cal clip & a front clip too add to it.
.. And there is the 1st 66 my Running Buddy bought . It's on it's 4th redo too some extent.
& I have the El Diablo Rojo setting in my shop now. It's a 69 uncut I do have lots of spare parts for it. & it's for sale. I just can't think I need to work on it. It's been setting out side for about 10 & inside for 2 years.

I have saved restored three. Resold two others that were left for dead. And parted out one that was rusted beyond saving.

Saved to date: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120546 This is now in Maine and has been totally restored. Great story about when the couple came and picked it up. They shoveled about 18 inches of snow 6 feet wide by several hundred yards. I have pictures some where, they were not leaving without it!

Then: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136968 This is now in the next town over from me. Probably never should have sold this one but migs is sure taking great care of it.

Around the same time: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117433 and this one has received some much needed love from dead fish.

This brings me to my current project: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195857

And of these 4, three have been saved and one was sacrificed to save many more: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222803

I had a red 74 before I came to find this site and I sold it to a guy in CT who planned a frame swap. Years later I found it for sale on eBay and do not know its fate. Along with that one I had a 73 parts rig that went to a local scrap yard before I knew what I had.

Great stories -
I guess I've saves 6.
My first Bronco had been sitting for 8 years. It was once owned by Buford Pusser.
2nd had beed sitting in a field forever
3rd hadn't ran in 10 yrs
4rd and 5th were bought together - real pieces of junk.
6th was just a body
and 7th and 8th will be next year - number 7 it needs every panel except quarters, rockers and post. We bought it with the 4th and 5th and didn't even want it. I guess it good we went ahead and got it.
