How much should I offer

Owner finally says he’ll sell. His dad bought it new so it’s a one family owned ‘73 with original paint. He’s tired of people asking him to sell and he says he’ll never rebuild it. But he knows they bring good money. He said go look at it and make him an offer. I went to look today. It definitely needs front door post on passenger side. Front floor pans. Inner fender aprons. Possibly a tailgate and possibly a lift gate. And who knows what once you get in to it. Needs a fuel tank and brake lines for sure. Wheels and tires. It has a new radiator and a few other new items that have recently been put in. I took a bunch of pictures and I’ll try to post them. Any suggestions on what to offer??

I say $4,000 would be my first offer. Then head up to $8000 if need be.

4th pic in your last set shows rust along the exterior body seams.

I'm not disagreeing with any of these guys and their quotes, but you do need to be aware of what you're getting into. There's a lot of rust under there.

My estimate had a lot to do with knowing the full history, wiring probably never been hacked up etc...and also if I were planning to patch it up and make it a survivor/daily driver...but it really boils down to your plans for it Tug...I believe you're having one restored right now?? So if you bought this one, what would you do with it?

If I planned to patch it up and make it a roadworthy survivor to sell, then obviously I would pay less...do they salt the roads in WV?

I would just plan to to repairreplace only what’s needed and possibly leave most of the original paint. I think it would shine up a little. Then I’d use it for a driver. Yes. Salt is used heavily here since we tend to get a good bit of snow and we have a lot of mountain roads. My broncos stay in the garage usually from November 1st until late March or April. I can’t lowball this guy though. He’s a doctor and doesn’t need money and he’s had a lot of interested people asking to buy it. I’m gonna let my friend offer him $7000 since my friend wants it and knows the guy. I may just help him fix it up

Today's prices....youre in that 5k range possibly 8 ....that seam on the quarter looks sketchy but overall it boils down to what you can afford and are comfortable spending on it...

I would start the offer at $2000 and then go from there. If it's for personal use and you aren't going to flip it for a profit, then I would go as far as $7000(cash).

Thanks for all the input guys. I can’t lowball him since he’s already had a bunch of offers. Like I said he’s a doctor and a little strange. He has several vehicles that he bought new, drove 30000 miles then parked them. He doesn’t need money. I’d say he’ll just say no forget about it if I don’t hit his price. I have my buddy gonna offer him 7000 in the next few days since he wants it. I’ll let you know what happens and post some outside pictures if he gets it. Thanks

To follow up. My buddy talked to the doctor to make him an offer on the bronco. Turned out that one was not the one he was willing to sell. He has another one in a garage in another town that he says is in worse shape. My buddy is going to let me know when we can go look at it. Don’t know how much interest I have in it if it is worse
