My windshield bracket broke off the old nuts I did a crappy job welding on years again. My question is, Are nutserts strong enough to hold the windshield wiper motor in place even while 4x4ing?

installed correctly, they're pretty strong. They come in steel and aluminum. The steel ones are extremely hard to install correctly in the larger sizes without the right specialized tool. The aluminum ones are easier to install with basic hand tools but of course not as strong as the steel ones.

Some rocksliders come with nutserts for installation and they are a lot heavier than a wiper motor.

Awesome thanks bro!!! Luckily I have the special tool and some zinc coated steel ones so I'll give it a shot.... I just get crazy off roading at times and was worried they might not survive my craziness hahaha ;D

Just make sure to anti-seize the bolts. Nutserts are strong but they can lose their grip on the parent metal and just spin in circles if the bolt seizes to it.

I worked great, just finished!!! Doing donuts and crashing a huge bolder knocked it loose lol. I kicked up so much dust that I couldn't see where I was going and crashed. I had to repair my bumper too lol

I just bought the nutsert/rivnut gun at Northern Tool. Plan on using it to mount my quarter panel inserts w/ some stainless machine screws. Very handy tool, looking at all the uses and it looks like you found another :p

I agree, this is the main problem with them; more so than them breaking or falling out.

I'd swear the seatbelts I removed from an expedition at pick-n-pull were installed from the factory with nutserts.

Duffymahoney I replaced my Windshield mount and upper/lower cowls and when I did I used the nutserts to mount the hinge back on. My Bronco is a '68 and originally came with a bolt on windshield. I can try to get pictures later in the week
